Job Title: Concrete Finisher
We are looking for an experienced Concrete Finisher to work in the Saskatoon area. This position supports Ronin Concrete’s work in concrete installation projects in the Saskatoon region.
Responsibilities:
- Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade
- Fill hollows and remove high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete
- Operate power vibrator to compact concrete
- Level top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float
- Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools
- Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete
- Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete
- Waterproof, damp-proof and restore concrete surfaces
- Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of floors, walls, roads and other concrete structures
- Ensure freshly poured concrete surfaces are protected from constantly changing weather conditions (covered, heat & hoarded accordingly)
- Provide quality assurance/ control for concrete pours
- Work with minimal supervision and direction
- Follow all safety and quality procedures
- Participate in safety meetings
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience is required
- Experience with various flat work finishing is required
- Grouting experience is an asset
- Understand how to use power/small tools such as plate tempers, carb saws, etc.
- Ability to work long hours (10+ hour days) outdoors in various weather conditions
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving heavy materials up to 50lbs
- Working understanding of site hazard assessments and able to complete daily safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner
- Be fit for duty and prepared for work each day
- Positive attitude/ team player
- Strong communication/ listening skills and ability to follow directions
Physical Demands: Handling material manually, standing, bending or twisting the body, making repetitive motions, walking and running, keeping or regaining balance.
Work Environment: Standard safety equipment, dangerous chemical substances, hazardous equipment, machinery, tools, sound and noise, outside, exposed to weather, high places, extreme temperatures, vibration, outside, under cover.
